As a meat lover, there’s nothing like the aroma and flavor of a perfectly grilled chicken. Whether it’s a simple dinner or a gathering with friends and family, grilled chicken is always a hit. But how do you prepare a tasty grilled chicken that’s juicy and flavorful? Here are some tips that I’ve found to be helpful in my own experience.
First, choose the right meat. Look for fresh, high-quality chicken that is free-range or organic. These chickens have been raised in a more natural environment and are often tastier than those from a factory farm. Choose cuts that are similar in size and shape, so they cook evenly.
Next, marinate the chicken. A good marinade will not only add flavor but also tenderize the meat. There are countless marinade recipes out there, but my favorite is a simple mix of olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and pepper. Let the chicken marinate for at least 30 minutes, but preferably overnight.
When it’s time to grill, make sure the grill is hot. A properly heated grill will give your chicken a crispy exterior while keeping the meat tender and juicy. Place the chicken on the grill with space in between each piece. Don’t overcrowd the grill, or the chicken will steam instead of grill.
While grilling, baste the chicken with the leftover marinade or your favorite barbecue sauce. This will add even more flavor to the meat. You can also add some wood chips to the grill to create a smokey flavor.
Once the chicken is cooked, let it rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and flavorful meat. Enjoy your delicious grilled chicken with a side of grilled vegetables or a salad.
As the great chef Julia Child once said, “The only real stumbling block is fear of failure. In cooking, you’ve got to have a what-the-hell attitude.” So don’t be afraid to experiment and try new things with your grilled chicken!
